To fulfill the number of credits needed, I chose to take 7 classes, and the first one was a workshop in graphic design called Exhibition Design, and for our initial meeting we were told to gather at the local heritage museum… it started interesting already!
We were basically presented a space where an exhibition of some past student works were about to be displayed, and after analysing the space I was assigned to design a poster and flyer about this exhibition, while other students were assigned to think of ways to exhibit the work and ultimately enhance the experience of the viewers.
It was not a long course. but I’d say it helped improve on my collaboration skills, since I had to discuss the design ideas together with another colleague. For the promotional poster I knew I wanted to inlcude at least one of the exhibited works, but they were quite complex in appearance with various themes and details.

By implementing graphic design principles I learnt in my second year of university like Swiss Style, the concept of simplification and reducing everything to the essentials, I integrated only the important text while displaying a big photograph of one intriguing piece that was gonna be exhibited, therefore achieving a simple and effective design.
This first course, despite being short, it opened doors to meeting new people, places and a sense of progressively integrating in the new university system…
